(Peace) Hippie Hoppity Easter’s On It’s Way…

tiedyeeggs-main_fullCame across something fun and pretty to put next to your tie-dyed Easter eggs at your Easter table this year. A tie-dyed cake and or cupcakes to match! How fun – right? I’m a little obsessed with colorful things {and a peace-loving-hippie by up-bringing}, so this recipe really caught my eye and is a have-to-make! Especially if you have kids and the bunny-cake is getting a little over-done {see my Birthday post}

Ok, so I stole this photo from Omnomicon because she’s got this sweet-lookin’ carb-a-licious treat down! But, this is what you’ll need for this cake (TIMES 2). For cupcakes this is probably fine, but for a big fluffy rainbow cake…double up.
use this stuff

All you do is, pour (2)two-12 oz cans of soda into the (2)two boxes of cake mix. No eggs, no oil, nada. That’s it. So far.

Here comes the tricky part. Now you must equally {as possible} divide the batter into 6 different bowls. Stir in the gel-dye for each color. Then little-by-little pour the different colors of batter into your greased cake/cupcake pans. You can experiment a bit with this and even use a toothpick to bring some swirls into the works…but don’t play too much!

Put them in the oven and bake according to the box…and also keep an eye out…make sure you DON’T over-bake or your pretty colors will turn brown. Insert your toothpick to be sure it’s done and wha-la!

cupcakes

As for the frosting…add the pudding mix to the whipped topping {add coloring if you’d like} and frost away.

This is what you’re going for:
the pretty cake!

So fun right? I’m pretty psych(edelic)ed about it!
