[posted this awhile back, but wanted to re-post for my new followers about how I turned my wedding gown into my daughter's Christening Gown]
Ahhh…my wedding gown…

So much….flowing material…
Perfect (to me) in every way….that day…
BUT….at the END of THAT DAY…

…what the heck am I ever going to do with it?
— preserve it?….why, so someone can someday un-preserve it just to look at it – NOT.
— save it for my daughter?…um, you actually think she’d ever want to wear her mother’s gown…”Ma, that’s so 2006!”
— donate it?…I thought about it…
.
.
.
…My decision (last summer at 8 months pregnant and in full hormonal-state-of-being)….turn it into a Baptism gown for my baby girl.
Yes, I cut apart my wedding gown and sewed it (myself) into Pinkie’s Baptism gown.
She rocked it more than I did!

I hope that she can someday pass this on…along with the tale of her mother and her hormone-driven scissors!

Beautiful!!!
1st, I can’t believe you had enough nerve to do it! My dress still sits in my closet. I have no idea what to do with it.
2nd It is the most beautiful christening gown I’ve ever seen! As much as we love our wedding dresses, this is more likely to be used again.
So makes me wish I had bought a wedding dress instead of borrow one! I’ve also seen someone who used theirs to make a bassinet cover. . .GORGEOUS!! Her dress turned out beautiful!
wait…..what did you do with the rest of the dress that you didnt’ use?
That is awesome! I thought about doing the exact same thing…..well minus the doing it myself part. But we had a boy and my husband wouldn’t let me dress him in a gown for his baptism :) but I think I really want to do that if we have a girl. I haven’t even had my wedding dress dry cleaned and it’s been 3 years! It is still black all the way around the bottom from grass and wine stains! Oh well what are you going to do. Thanks for showing those pictures and sharing!
I hate you because you are good at EVERYTHING! ;) That is really amazing!
That is beautiful !!! What a fabulous idea.
This is EXACTLY what I wanted to do with my wedding gown for my daughters christening and everyone looked at me like I had 3 heads.
I dont sew so Id have had to get it done by someone else but no one was very encouraging.
Ugh. Im so jealous!
It came out beautiful!
I LOVE THAT!!! OMG! You have an ingenious idea! Run with it! FAST!!
YOu are BRILLIANT!!! I stinking love that. I wish i was half that talented.

Wow, totally teared up. You both looked gorgeous and what a great way to make something more sentimental.
I love the name of your blog and your babies. Maybe because I am Irish and everyone used to talk about Irish twins!
The wedding dress to christening gown is amazing and I bet you could make a business of creating christening gowns from wedding dresses.
Girl you have got some serious talent! What a great idea. I saved my wedding dress. I like your idea better.
That is so cool! What a GREAT idea!
That’s INCREDIBLE!!! what a great idea!! amazing!
you are a genious and yeah she totally rocked it how adorable…and I love that you call her pinky.
What a great idea. Mine is currently hanging in a closet at my parent’s house. I never got it cleaned. I know I’ll never wear it again but I don’t think I could cut it up. It’s just as well since I can’t really sew
What A wonderful idea!!!
