Tell me….why didn’t any of you tell me that a “vacation with children” is NOT an actual vacation? Huh? I mean…we (huz and I) did more running around after these two toddlers (blink blink I have 2 toddlers?) in one week than if we actually hoof’d the route of the Tour de France!
Holy sand-y hineys MOLEY!
These kids were non-stop.
For those of you just tuning in, we spent the last week and then some down in/at/around the Outer Banks, NC. We had a house on the beach in Nags Head with PapaBoss’ e n t i r e family.
We did have fun though.
Some of my favorite moments:
– Random slobbery dude mumbling under his breath 4 booths away that “we should take those kids outside” when they started whining a bit…in a hole-in-the-wall-next-to-the-hotel restaurant down in VA Beach — after they sat in the car for 5 hours. Like he was in some 5-star joint and didn’t expect kids to be staying at the only crib-available hotel in the area. Pu-lease mister…you can’t even order lobster here. I mean the decor was fabulous and all…
(kiddos with hubby and his parents)

We were not letting that spoil our fun and greasy food.
(Pinkie & me)

– The crib they DID actually have available for our 2 year old was made out of left-over parts from the 6 inch fence they had around the cesspool swimming “pool” — my son learned a new word that night…”skeevy”.
Oh well, Pinkie enjoyed the AC that night…

…and it’s a good thing, because…
– Once we finally did make it to the Outer Banks the next day…AC in our house was spitting out heat!…the thermostat read a comfortable 90+° — thank goodness the jacuzzi was working so we could cool off.
– Ahhh – the sound of the Margarita Machine (pshhhh – of course I brought it!) crushing up our first (of many) frozen concoction of the week! GLORIOUS.

– Loved seeing our children on the beach for the first time…

– The many buckets and shovels, sand and salt, seashells and sandcrabs, kites & smiles — all week long.

– Our family photo shoot turned out more tear-free that I thought!

– We even made it up to Jockey’s Ridge State Park with BOTH kiddies, just in time for sunset!

Ahhh – but we’re home now.
Already had a trip to the pediatrician today before the first load of laundry was even finished. MyBuddy has had a fever since last night — not the ears, not throat, but “Roseola is going around” the Dr. tells me…lucky us.
Back to reality.
