Wow...that is horrible.

We are STILL not sure of what happened to her leg...it is almost healed now after a little over a week. She was on oral Rx Bactrim.

We are considering taking her to see if she indeed has an allergy to mosquito bites...or if it was just a coincidence that the "bites" turned into cellulitis...we're just as stumped!

Please let ME know if you find out anymore on your end and I'll do the same. Good luck with your son and thanks for reaching out -- this is a mystery.

Our son is going through some rounds with bites getting cellulitis (third time in 5 weeks) and through Googling for more information (our pediatrician is stumped) I came across your post. I would appreciate it if you would let us know, either through more postings or direct email, anything that you find out. The infections have been responding to Augmentin, as Bactrim (both topical and oral) didn't seem to work.

Good luck with diagnoses and I hope that Pinkie's leg gets feeling better.

You really should change your pediatric group. PA is a hard state to find good doctors in. Too bad you don't live near my area...my pediatric group is amazing. There is always a doctor on call that is willing to bring your child into the office. I didn't actually have to do a lot of research though, I took her to the same group I went to when I was a little kid.

Well, thank you for the update. I've had my kids run a low grade fever, or get a little sick from their shots before - but NOTHING like what you are going through. Who would've thought it? Hope all goes well.....

I have been thinking about you all week! I am glad she is doing better- I cant say her leg looks much better though- but I guess it has to get worse to get better right? Hang in there! I will keep praying for your little sweetheart and hope things keep going better from here!

Oh, that's good to hear!
Yes, we were re-scheduled by the doctor's office twice for the round of shots! I wish I knew the importance of the spacing - NOW I DO. We are not thrilled with MANY things about our Pediatric group and are going to be switching to new doctors. There were a lot of bad experiences with them in the past 2 years...enough is enough -- the wellness of our little ones is much more important than benefit-of-the-doubt.

My little E just got her mmr and chickenpox in June when she was 15 months old. There were no adverse side effects from it. Her 2nd prevnar though, she got MUCH earlier than Pinkie did. I did the research on all the shots before she was even born so I knew all the facts, and thankfully her doctor never strays from the approved schedule.
