Hearing ringing, but it’s NOT Christmas Bells…

How does a thirty year old who is in awesome weight-losing health get a double “inner” ear infection?

I’m not sick.

Last night during dinner I heard a whooosh and then low-pitch buzzing. I completely lost hearing in my left ear and it was ringing all night. Then when I woke up this morning my right ear was ringing too.

Everything sounds really loud yet muffled and echoes through my head…especially the shrills of the iTwins.

According to the (second doctor I saw today) I have Labyrinthitis.

Went to my family Dr. this morning who just wanted to give me ear drops. That plan didn’t sit well with me and so I decided to call a Ear, Nose Throat specialist in the area. Thanks to my persistent hubby, I got an appointment with them today.

After being hooked up to some extensive hearing tests, they determined that I have significant hearing loss in BOTH ears.

Fabulous.

The doctor then came in after shuffling through his clipboard of papers (looking perplexed) and asked a million questions.

High sodium diet? NO, though my BP was 138/98 this morning – a bit high.
Are you dizzy? YES
Do you have a history of ear problems? NO
Do you have Lyme’s disease or are you around ticks? NO
Do you have a thyroid disorder? NO
On medications? NO
yada yada…

Then he just stared with a hmmmmmm….

dizzy Finally ~~pulled out of his~~ decided that it was an inner ear infection called Labyrinthitis and wrote me out a Rx for Prednisone. He also sent me for a blood work-up.

So instead of Cyber Monday shopping like everyone else did today, that’s what I did.

I still can’t hear…except ringing and ocean-like noises, but trust me, this is no beach!

I can’t understand why I felt perfectly normal yesterday and now today I can barely stand up.

No fair :(

Oh no how awful! I bet your ears really hurt. I hope you get better soon and regain your hearing.

Wow! That totally stinks! I’m sorry you are having ear issues.

I didn’t even know what Cyber Monday was until I asked on Twitter. Where have I been hiding, huh? Apparently under some rock! LoL!

I hope your hearing comes back very soon!
