My ability to hear is slowly returning after a rather frightening sudden-loss of hearing on Sunday evening. Thank You for all of your sweet comments. I’ve never had an ear infection before and now I know why the kids get so cranky when they have one – not fun.
So on Sunday, before my loss-of-hearing episode and after the Redskins’ loss to my Eagles (woot!) — we put up our Christmas Tree and a few lights around the house.
My husband and I were not really sure how it would be possible to have all the decorations and ornaments strewn about with the iTwins running wild, but it worked out.
They even helped out a little…

[Though she looks sweet and innocent, she's actually taking OFF all the ornaments we just put ON]
…MyBuddy even obliged and wore reindeer ears for a quick photo…

It all worked out in the end and once we shoved the fabric ottoman in front of the tree to block it off, we were safe at home with “putting up the tree 2009″.
Now they climb up on the ottoman and sit there on their knees looking at the lights and occasionally nudging an ornament or two. Besides snowflakes and glass balls, there seems to be a abundance of “Baby’s 1st Christmas” ornaments — that was the popular ornament I noticed this year. I think we received a lot of them last year (for Pinkie’s 1st Christmas) and saved them to put up this year.
I even managed to haul my butt up on top of the counter tops to string pre-lit garland across the tops of the cabinets. Since we’re in the kitchen a lot, it’s a fun thing for the iTwins to look at and talk about while they eat their meals.
Christmas Lights are a BIG HIT with my 2-year-old this year — when we are driving around Pennsyltucky (since people around here have had them up since the day after Halloween) he shouts out “OOOhhh Chrit-mas Lites” and really enjoys seeing the neighbor’s lights out our windows at night. It is fun to see the little ones start to recognize who the guy in the Big Red Suit is and even Christmas songs on the radio.
So, that’s what we’ve done so far to get ready for the Holidays. Oh and I did happen to pick up Christmas Outfits for the iTwins this past weekend at the Outlet Mall from Hartstrings – they were 50% off and 15% off on top of that…and too cute to pass up!
Onward to Holiday Cards, Christmas Menus, more decorating and finishing up shopping…
Have you started to prep for the Holidays yet?

PS – I’m still proud of my weight-loss this week…even after Thanksgiving…down another 4lbs.!

That is so neat!!
I am almost COMPLETELY done Christmas shopping, however…the tree is not up just yet! I’m hoping we can accomplish that tonight.

OH, what adorable helpers! Sorry about your ear infection – I used to get them when I was much younger and they can be both scary and painful! Love the decorations – we are going to try to get ours up this weekend!
Thanks Lou! Yeah, I think the medicine is doing it’s job — it did scare me to have happened so suddenly though…so strange. Anyway – good thing we got to decorating this weekend before hand. YES – The Holidays are so special with little ones…there are many decorations that simply won’t withstand the tots though, so they get put away for when they are older – hehe.

OMG, I’m sorry to hear about your sudden hearing loss – how scary that must have been! Am glad to hear it’s back now… can’t imagine how worried you must have been. Your tree looks lovely! Have a great and festive month! It is that much more wonderful with children, isn’t it?
Thanks MiMi :) They both have little plastic snowmen that they keep taking off and then hanging back up…they know that is the only ornament they can do that with — the others get a “no no NO” LOL
