I’m a little down…just so you know, so this post is out of character for me and a bit “Bah Humbug”-ish.
My hearing loss (SSHL) is just making me crazy and I’m not myself. I’m trying to find that Christmas Spirit that I always wait all year for — but it’s been hard to find.
The surprise visit I had from my sister last week was awesome! She was such a big help with the iTwins. I was able to do laundry, clean up the house and just relax a little with her having eyes and ears on the kids. Not to mention that the iTwins simply love her to pieces and were beyond entertained. Thanks a million-bazillion Val!
This week is filled with last-minute Christmas preparations. Gifts have been arriving via UPS and FedEx (since I did most of our shopping online)…and I’ve been spending evenings wrapping once the kiddos go to sleep. I can’t watch TV (Closed Captioning is way too annoying) or hear music, so other than jumping online to check e-mail, Facebook & Twitter…it has been something to take my mind off all of the ringing in my head.
We did get to venture out to the mall this Saturday. It was EXTREMELY difficult to hear my husband who was standing right next to me. Add the dizziness in there, and it was just too much for me. The iTwins DID love watching the huge Christmas Tree light up with the music and animated toys — they also got to see Santa, but the line was about 14,678 strollers long, so we opted out of the photo-taking tradition this year.
My ears were ringing like crazy. I snapped this photo and then we B-lined home.

Sunday PapaBoss took myBuddy for a Holiday Haircut.

My son, wasn’t too thrilled with that – but nothing a ride through Lowe’s in a Blue Race Car and lollipop didn’t cure :)

The highlight of the weekend was last night when my Eagles beat hubby’s Giants in Sunday Night Football! Hehe.

It was an eventful game with tons of play-reviews and some scuffles, but that’s typical for the Philly/NY match-up. It was interesting watching the game with Closed Captioning and no sound…I couldn’t hear the boos and hisses from the Giant’s fans…surely we got some of them. But we just played a better game boys.
I’m also excited to share that Weight Watchers is still doing the trick for me. I lost another 2.5lbs. this past week! You can read more about this morning’s weigh-in here at my weight loss blog.
So, back to the doctor Friday morning. They will do more hearing screenings and then we’ll see what the next plan is. By Friday it will be about 3 weeks with this hearing-loss.
I’m trying to focus on all the wonderful blessings in my life…my family…friends (including all of you)…a mostly-healthy year and all the beyond-amazing little things I usually cherish everyday. But, right now — gosh, it’s so hard to do in this fog. I’m walking around in a daze and am just looking for some way out.
See, I told you – I’m pretty Bah Humbug-ish right now. I’ll get over it though, promise.

Sending lots of hugs. I can not even imagine and you have ever right to be Bah-Humbuging (making up a verb here). May things continue to get better until your hearing is back to 100%. If we were closer I would help with the kids. Good luck and healthy vibes coming your way.
