Left my Yankee Candle burning all night!

Woke up this morning, came downstairs with the iTwins and it smelled wonderful!

…It smelled of fresh-cut Christmas Tree, cedar and spiced cookies

…but we don’t have a real tree, we have a gas fireplace and I finished baking 18 hours ago…OMG – my Yankee Candle!!!

IT’S STILL LIT!!!

I quickly ran over to blow out the 3 foot flame (well it wasn’t that high, but might as well have been!) – and immediately got mad at my husband who left over an hour ago for work.  How did he bypass that on his way out the door???

I called him and asked: “Did it smell extra Christmas-y to you in the house this morning?”
My husband: “No, why?” (that’s right – he CAN’T SMELL)
me: “You walked right past the candle that was lit ALL NIGHT LONG!”
him: “Oh, really”
me (getting all pissy): “Yeah I had to turn off all 8000 Christmas lights all by myself last night (after wrapping all the Christmas presents & baking cookies & making dinner & prepping Christmas food all day) and forgot all about the candle…so it’s your fault for not helping me and just going up to bed before me last night”
hmmmft.
him: “Sorry sweetie”
me: “It’s my fault – I forgot and I’m really mad at myself, but just wanted to see if I could peg you for it :)”
him: “ok”

Seriously though — anyone else have a million things on their mind?  I just really ran out of room in my brain to think about anything else – like blowing out my lit Silver Bells Yankee Candle – geesh.

You know, come to think of it – I did wake up last night, in the middle of the night and looked over the upstairs railing thinking “what did I leave on?…it looks brighter than usual downstairs”.  Then I remembered that the 16 inches + of snow we got this weekend made it really bright when the lights were out – so I just crawled back into bed.

How scary is that?

I must get it together, for real.

In other non-burn-your-house-the-ground news:
Here is an update on my hearing loss (posted friday after my Dr. appointment) & here is an update on my weight loss – BOTH updates are on a “positive note”.

I’m going to get our photos together from the snowstorm this weekend and post that later today – so come back…

And don’t forget I’ll be drawing the (2) winners for the Sun & Earth giftcard GIVEAWAY tonight, so GO ENTER — your chances of winning are really great!!!

Oh my. That would scare me so bad. I don’t light candles anymore, actually. I use Diffuser Reeds and put all candles on candle warmers aka mug warmers. They last forever, smell up the whole home, and there is no need to light the candle. I light tea lights for my oil burners sometimes, but those go out on their own in a few hours. Thank gosh everyone was safe and nothing was near it. Scary.

You know I LOVE those diffusers too!  I just love the glow of a candle and I usually ALWAYS leave it where I won’t forget to blow it out — so much for that last night.  Yeah I’m already paranoid about it, so I always have them lit after the kids go to sleep and in an open area — still scared myself with this one though – ugh.

You are so lucky that nothing caught on fire.  My uncle’s living room burned quite badly when a candle was left lit a few years ago.

AGH!!! i hope I don’t forget anything! Going to finish up my grocery shopping today and HOPEFULLY I won’t have to go back to ONE single store until AFTER Christmas! LOL! :)

BTW-glad you are having SOME progress in your hearing! Anything is possible!!!
    Merry Christmas!

I’ve accidentally left a candle lit in the bathroom a few times too many, but not overnight (thank goodness!) SO glad nothing happened to you guys!

Love the way you tried to pin it on hubby!  ;)

I have SO done this on more than on occassion. That is why I am currently not “allowed” so says my husband, to burn candles in the house. I have one of those candle warmer thingys! But it just doesn’t do it for me that well. The smell is not as strong! Oh, well!!!!

Oh so glad I’m not alone…oh gosh hope I don’t get banned from burning them too – my husband usually ALWAYS asks me “do you have any candles burning” before we go up to bed – just not last night – ugh.  I really should try one of those warmers…
