Our son was born August 6, 2007
Our daughter was born August 4, 2008
When I first ran downstairs with THAT positive pregnancy test, my son was just 3 months old.
I cried because I was hormonal.
I cried because I was happy.
I cried because I was scared.
I cried because labor was still too fresh in my near-memory.
I cried because…Oh my goodness..we’re going to have another baby in 9 months!
I was a NEW Mom trying to learn the ropes with baby #1, baby #2 was already cookin’. I don’t think the reality of it set in until I was in labor 9 months later…and then in a few hours was holding 2 of our children. Born 363 days apart, we now had Irish Twins.
Today, my babies are now toddlers and even though they are at different stages of development, the bond they share as brother and sister is just awesome.
This is the closeness they’ve shared since the beginning…
…before they even knew each other existed:

my son 7 months old…4 months pregnant with my daughter (St. Patrick’s Day ’08)

the last days being an only-child

enjoy all the attention, while you can!

first look at his baby sister minutes old (2 days before his 1st birthday w/my parents in the hospital)

one of my favorites…can imagine he’s saying…”oh crap, who’s that?” LOL

“welcome home sister…today is MY Birthday – Ha!”

“you’ll get to have cake with me next year…this year it’s all MINE!”

yeah our hands were full…

…but…

…it was the beginning…

…of such a sweet bond :)
Here is how our Irish Twins have grown together over this past year – they are inseparable! When they wake up in the morning in their own rooms, the first thing they do is run to be with each other.

big brother…he’s such the teacher and really plays the “big brother” role quite well

we do get asked a lot if they are actual TWINS

the love continues…

and they did BOTH get to eat Birthday cake this past year!

Oh and sure they fight!

but it never lasts long…

Then there is this video I just took the other night…they just started hugging for no reason and I just jumped to grab my flip video recorder to capture this moment — they are now 2½ & 1½ years old.
I think that they will continue to have a special bond and it should be fun to see how they grow up together so close in age.

So glad I found this! I found out today that I’m pregnant with #2. I’m totally freaking out because my little one is only 4.5 months old. She was an IVF baby…this one was a surprise! Seeing your little ones together brought me to tears.
Love this post with all these sweet photos. My son and daughter are also incredibly post, and I love to see them be affectionate towards each other, without any prompting. Its a wonderful dynamic that will only get better as they get older. Thanks for sharing your beautiful kids.
So precious!
That picture of them on the beach is my FAV!!! You are really blessed :)

what a blessing to you and to each other!
If I had it to do all over again… I would definitely want my children to be born closer together. There is a 7 year age difference in my son and daughter…. My son got so used to being an only child and then he gets a sister. It would be so much easier if they were closer in age.. maybe they would be more willing to share instead of fight. ;)
Great photos! Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with all of us!
So very sweet.
very sweet! They are just darling!
‘The apple doesnt fall far from the tree’ – how incredibly adorable….we’ll be smiling for some time after this one…. life is real good. Love watching those two! sigh,
I have a friend with two who are really close together. She’s 3 & he’s 4 now- they are sooo like a little old couple together! it’s adorable.
That is amazing that they have such a special bond.

Hi,
I love your blog! My girls were actually born in the same year 01/12/06 and 12/13/06 and I enjoy reading you experiences because they are so similar to mine. Keep up the great posts!

That almost moved me to tears! My little ones are 12 months and 8 days apart (so not quite i-twins!) and I hope they develop the bond that your kids have! They are a boy first and then a girl (like yours) but right now they are only 15 months and 3 months old. He loves on her and such, and he won’t ever remember life without her. I can’t wait to see how they interact in a year!
That is soo sweet! Yes, I think they will grow up with that strong bond…I would hate to see “your buddy” when little sister get a boyfriend! LOL!
